Model Creation: Complex Shapes & Milestone 2

Retopology, Quad Draw, & Mirroring

Week 2 was dedicated to the the Maya toolbox settings. Settings such as quad draw, draw polygon, and the live surface tools. Allowing us to create 2D polygons or 3D polygons depending on if we chose to in live surface mode or in our 2D panes. Allowing us to create tertiary detail and extruding from the drawn polygons.

To me quad draw was interesting to use especially when working with modular segmentation and dedicated symmetry. I tried to break down all my milestones from that point on into segments to create. Meaning if only 1/4 of my geometry had cleanup issues I would fix that quarter and mirror until the original object had been recreated. It made more sense that way.

Truthfully at this point these edgeflow concepts were good, if the need for retopology happened often. For the most part all of us were able to build solid geometry throughout and hadn't really needed to retopologize our geometry with live surface in Maya.

That being said we had ample time to practice and create new models for our milestone 2 & 3 assignment. Now, to be clear Milestone 2 & 3 were the absolute same but the latter milestone was the turn in. Meaning we had 2 weeks to create 9 models, with solid edgeflow and minimal problem geometry that we had explored in the week prior.

These were a few of the 9 props I modeled along with the only references image given.
